Randomization of questions and answers means that all of your content will be shuffled every time someone opens the survey. This can be useful for a quiz when you don't want respondents to look at each others' responses, as everyone will have the content in a different order.
This guide will teach you:
1. Randomize questions
Once you have created your survey, head to the Extra Options tab. Scroll down and click Question grouping & Question pool.
You can use Randomization in two different ways:
Note that Save and Continue and shuffling your content can not be used together.
1.1 Randomize all questions
When you want to shuffle all your content, turn on Randomize questions in Block 1 (the only one you have). All your content will be shuffled and the order will change every time.
1.2 Randomize some questions
If you only want to shuffle some of your content, you can work with Question Blocks.
Question blocks is a tool that allows you to group your questions together. You can move your content between the blocks and decide for which blocks to enable the question pool feature.
When you move questions to a later block, their numbers will be automatically updated.
For example, you might want the first and the last questions to be fixed because they require personal data, and the rest of your content in the middle to be shuffled.
Click Create question block twice, to add two new blocks.
You will need to move the content to the correct block. Select the questions you want to be randomized and choose QB2 from the drop-down menu to move them to your second block.
Then you'll want to move the questions that you want to appear after the shuffled questions to block 3.
Select the check box on top of the list to select all questions if you need to move a lot of them, then un-check the ones which you do not want to move.
It's time to turn on randomization in block 2 only to shuffle the content. Don't forget to click Apply when you're done.
It is possible to activate group questions on the same screen at the same time as randomize questions.
If you need to delete a block, be sure to move the questions to a different block first. It is not possible to delete a block that is not empty.
2. Randomize answers
You can easily shuffle your answers. Underneath the possible answers, you'll see a couple of features. You want to turn on the option to shuffle answers.
What's next?
- Question logic is a highly effective way to improve the flow of your survey and tailor it to make it relevant to respondents. It allows you to specify which question to show or hide, or even skip to the end of the survey, based on the answer to a preceding inquiry, quiz score, or contact data.
- Outcomes is a feature that allows you to select what you will show to your respondents as a final screen, based on their answers or show a screen based on criteria that you have specified, such as a specific quiz score. It offers the possibility to create personality quizzes and business tests that end with personalized advice based on the respondent's answers.
- Auto Skip will automatically slide to the next slide once the answer has been selected by the respondent, so it helps them progress smoothly through the survey. You can also choose if you want to have respondents click "Complete to finish the survey or if it will automatically complete once the final question has been answered.
