Filter and compare feature is used to show only the results that fulfill a certain condition. You can select your results by Question and Answer, Intro field, Date range, Respondent, Language, Custom score, and Quiz score.
What's the difference between filter and compare?
- Filter will show you only the results which match certain conditions.
- Compare allows you to see different groups side-by-side so that you can compare them to each other.
By default, our dashboards allow for displaying up to 5000 responses. If you have more than 5000 responses and you want to analyse them in the charts tab, you'll need to add filters to limit the number of responses. As for exporting the dataset via CSV or Excel, you'll get the full set of data if you remove your filters.
In both cases, you'll need to specify the conditions for when results should be shown or grouped together.
This guide will teach you:
1. Set up filters
You'll first need to make a copy of your dashboard since the All Results dashboard will show all the results.
Name your new dashboard and click Save and close.
Now you can set up your conditions. Click Options at the top of the screen then click Filter and Compare.
Click the + and choose the filter type. Common types are by question and answer, intro field, or date. Here are some ideas:
- Question & Answer: Find your winners by selecting the right answer to the prize question.
- Intro field: When you've chosen to ask for the department with an Intro field, you'll get a list of departments people filled in. Choose the department you want to see responses from. This way you can immediately see which department thought the training was useful, and which departments needed to hear more cases applied to their specific branch.
- Date: You've placed three POS-items next to your products in a shop to improve brand awareness. All these three items are present for a certain period. By comparing the answers to these three periods you can see which one works best.
Now you will be able to build each part of the condition, for example:
When you've set your conditions you'll only see the responses based on those conditions. When you download a CSV or PDF now, only the responses allowed by those conditions will be downloaded
2. Filter results
You can add as many conditions as you like to define which results you want to view. Use the white plus button to widen or narrow your results.
Let's look at an example. At your results dashboard, you want to see results only from those who answered that they are male and live in Lisbon. Here are the options you need to select when setting this up:
Average custom score, Completion rate, and Duration can not be filtered.
The filters will appear at the top of the dashboard:
Now that you have chosen to show only the answers of those who are male living in Lisbon, these are the only answers that will show up on all the graphs, for example:
Specify if this should be used instead of (OR) or as well as (AND) the first condition. Note that OR always has priority in these rules. For example, you want to see the results of the men that live in Lisbon that are Satisfied OR Very satisfied. So you're going to show the results of the men that live in Lisbon and are satisfied or the men that live in Lisbon and are very satisfied:
3. Compare results
The compare feature only works for bar charts. If you want to do more complex comparisons, we recommend that you use Zapier or Integromat integrations with Pointerpro. You can then use either of these integrations to work together with Google Data Studios to make advanced comparisons.
Now let's say you want to compare the results of those living in different Spanish cities. Use the orange new comparison button to add different conditions to compare the groups.
Here we'll add each condition with a different answer for where they live:
Now let's take a look at what you will see at the dashboard. Note the colored line around each group, and see that each color is slightly different. In the graphs, these are the colors that will be used for each of the groups.
Take a look at how the graphs come out when you are comparing different groups:
Note that when you share your results dashboard with filters or comparisons, the viewer will not be able to make changes. They'll be able to view the conditions by clicking on them, but all the options to change them will be greyed out, as below:
What's next?
- Download your results to see and analyze all the data you collected from your survey. There are different options available, choose either a bulk download of survey results or files relating to individual responses. You can choose between CSV format, Excel format, PDF format, or use Report Scheduler.
- Charts view: allows you monitor the number of responses, the completion rate and the average duration of your surveys. You can also see graphical representations of the results of each question separately and the results of each question block of your survey.
- Responses view, to analyze the responses you have collected, the last slide and last question when save per question or save and continue is enabled. This is where device data and properties are included, if data collection setting is enabled.
