Create a survey to collect data from a group of respondents in order to obtain knowledge on different topics of interest. Here’s a guide to quickly create your first great-looking survey.
This guide will teach you:
- Create a new survey
- Write the Intro screen
- Add survey questions
- Build the final screen
- Edit the design
- Share your survey
1. Create a new survey
At the Questionnaires tab, click Create questionnaire.
Click Start from scratch so you can add just the right type of questions to your questionnaire.
The title and link of your questionnaire are automatically filled in. You can leave these as they are or change it to a title and link that are more meaningful to your project.
Make sure your link is short if your respondents will have to type it themselves (e.g.: for mobile use).
Type your own questionnaire title and questionnaire link in the boxes.
2. Write the Intro screen
You can use the text that is already written, or write your own sentence to explain why your respondents should complete the questionnaire. If you want to hide the Intro screen altogether, toggle the button next to Active.
You could add Intro fields at your intro screen and ask some questions, for example, demographic data. We suggest leaving this for now, first build your quiz and come back later if there's information you want to ask your respondents at the beginning.
3. Add survey questions
3.2 Text Choice
3.3 Open Ended
3.4 Image Choice
3.1 How to add questions
To add your questions just click the ? Question button to insert your first question:
You'll be shown a range of question types to choose from. Choose your desired question type and click Add.
Don't forget to make your questionnaire an immersive experience for respondents - avoid jargon, keep questions short and to the point, and don't make it too long (best to stay under 10 questions). Also make sure to vary your question types so respondents do not get bored.
3.2 Text Choice
The text choice question can be single-select or multiple choice where respondents can select more than one answer.
3.3 Open Ended
Add an open ended question and invite respondents to type their answers.
3.4 Image Choice
The image choice question allows you to ask your respondent to select an image, instead of only text.
4. Build the final screen
You can leave the final screen as it is, customize the text, add variables or redirect the respondents to your website when they have clicked the final button.
Don't forget to click Save changes at the top of the screen before previewing or moving to other tabs.
5. Edit the design
To change the design, the colors, fonts, template and more you can go to the Design tab.
You can select one of the fresh and professional-looking templates and then customize it. Click on the one you like best or suits your company image.
You'll have greater credibility if you display your logo, so take the time to add it here. Scroll down to Logo and upload your own.
Your logo colors will be automatically detected if you want, or you can choose later to detect colors.
6. Share your survey
There are different ways to share your quiz. You can find the link to share your quiz with your respondents, when you click the Share tab.
Scroll down to the Share questionnaire link. Here you can copy the link or the short link of your quiz. Alternatively right-click on the QR code to download it and access the quiz from there.
What's next?
