Renewed Report Builder: Page Section widget

Page Section widget allows you to start working on a new PDF page. This is also a handy widget if you want to add a background color or image to specific pages of your report.

By default, each widget is placed one underneath the other and when the content doesn't fit in one page it will be automatically pushed to a new one when you print your PDF.

For formatting purposes, you have to make sure that the content of your widgets inside a page fits exactly in one page when you print your PDF report. Otherwise, you have to split the content in more widgets and move them to the new page.

Note that at the PDF editor the page expands automatically, so it is not always clear when you need to add a new page, especially if you use widget logic rules.

The Estimate where page breaks would occur button will help you but it is an estimation and not 100% accurate. You need to click the Preview PDF button to ensure that your widgets fit exactly in one page.

This guide will teach you:

  1. Add a new page
  2. Additional settings
  3. Additional buttons

1. Add a new page

To add a new page, all you have to do is click on it and drag and drop it under the current page.

Then you can add your widgets and start building your report.

note
NOTE

Your pages will use the margins that you set in the Design tab. Those margins will be the same on all pages. If you would like to have different margins on each page, then remove the margins from the design tab and add margins to your individual pages.

note
IMAGE COMPRESSION

Note that uploaded images are compressed to some degree. Keep in mind that there may be some minor quality loss. In visuals this is hardly noticeable but you might notice it in the text inside of your image.

Uploaded background images can be up to 2MB in size. When the image is larger than 2000 by 2000 pixels, it will be resized so the largest dimension is 800 pixels.

Example: 3000x1500 pixels will be scaled down to 2000x1000 pixels.

TIP

Images containing small or thin text are the most sensitive to noticeable quality loss. We recommend putting the text inside of a text widget on top of the image, as explained here.

8. Background repeat

The background repeat property sets how background images are repeated. This is an example of a background image with no repeat.

The Arrow allows you to move between the different layers of the page. For example, if you add a widget in a column then you have 3 layers: the page, the column, and the widget. The arrow allows you to quickly select a different layer.

The second icon, the four arrow sign, allows you to move your widget up or down to the page.
