The Custom Chart widget, unlike the other widgets, allows you to upload your own data through a CSV file. This way you are able to select exactly the data you want to show in your chart, down to the last detail.
Custom chart is a special type of graph that allows the user to customize the data he wants to include in the graph completely. The user can include formulas and variables or hardcoded data as values that will be graphically represented.
The Custom Chart widget has multiple templates. For each template, there is a specific CSV file that can be downloaded. Here's an example:

In this guide we'll discuss the following:
1. Setting up your data
First of all, to add this widget to your PDF report, you will have to click on the Custom Chart +sign in the Widgets area.
Once you add it, you select from the dropdown menu at the Extra Options the type of chart that you want to use.
The next step is to download the CSV example, as shown below, and then to add the values that you want.
Every chart has another content and format, so do not forget to first select the one you want to use from the dropdown list and then download the CSV file. In this file, you can change the name of the columns and add variables, but you should not add or delete columns and rows or change the format, as you risk to break the chart!
First you need to convert your CSV file to Excel, in order to create different columns. For more info, take a look at the CSV guide.
Then you would have to adjust your data in the Excel File:
When you are finished with the editing of the your file you can save again as CSV, click on Upload and choose the CSV that you just created.
It's possible to use variables and formulas like *|f1_result|* in your CSV file.
2. Custom Chart Options
You can select the name that you want to give to your graph at Widget Name that is located in the Extra Options tab. This name will not be shown in your report, it is just a name for your ease of use.
Also, you can choose how you would like to align your graph. You can align it to one side and have explanatory text or another widget on the other side or center it.
- Left: the widget will be aligned to the left side of the page, in a column layout
- Center: the widget will be presented centered across the entire page from the left to the right (full width)
- Right: the widget will be aligned to the right side of the page, in a column layout
If you would like a widget to appear side-by-side with your graph, make sure to align on one side of the page the widget, and the graph on the other. For example, choose to align the text widget to the left, and align a graph to the right.
Use the arrows or enter a value for the graph height and width. If you choose to place it on either the left or the right side of the page, the graph art will be automatically resized.
The max-width of one page is 810 px. To leave some room for spacing the recommended Width value is around 600 px.
Click the Update preview button to see how the widget you've created looks like

3. Widget logic rules
If you want to only show this widget under certain conditions, you'll need to set the widget logic rules. If you want to show a general widget that is visualized every time a PDF report is generated, you can choose not to include a widget logic rule. Learn more about Widget Logic.
Once you've saved your logic rules, don't forget to save PDF and you're ready to add more widgets!

What is next?
- Use the bubble chart widget to show your respondents their results from different questions and compare them to other components. A bubble chart stands out because it allows for a comparison between three variables.
- Add a gauge chart to the personalized PDF report to represent average or actual scores or percentage results for question blocks or formulas. Respondents can see at a glance if they've scored towards the top-end or bottom-end of the scale.
- Add an XY Chart widget to show your respondents the relationship between two variables. The respondents can compare and evaluate their answers on the XY chart created and see where they or their answer stands at.
